Postpartum Depression

Montani Mental Health’s Kayla Mullin was recently featured in an article where she was interviewed about postpartum depression.

“…PMAD (which stands for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders) encompasses a wide range of symptoms, including: fits of crying, anger, and sadness; feeling numb; being unable to sleep; feeling anxious; OCD behaviors; and extreme mood swings. This can make it harder to recognize from normal post-baby stress.”

EMDR Therapy

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy is a powerful and evidence-based psychotherapeutic approach designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories. EMDR Therapy helps individuals process and reprocess distressing memories, reducing the emotional charge associated with past traumas. By engaging the brain’s adaptive information processing system, EMDR supports clients in desensitizing negative emotions and beliefs linked to traumatic experiences.

Our experienced and certified EMDR therapists are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for clients seeking healing and personal growth. If you’re looking to overcome the impact of trauma and promote positive change in your life, explore the transformative possibilities of EMDR Therapy with our skilled professionals.

FAQ’s

How Can Therapy Help Me?

The benefits of therapy are replete. Therapists provide support and enhanced coping strategies related to issues of depression, anxiety, grief, stress, and more. Many find counseling to be a tremendous asset to managing personal growth, boosts in self-esteem, interpersonal communication, family concerns, marital issues, and the ebbs and flows of daily life.

Do I Really Need Therapy?
Everyone goes through challenging circumstances. Seeking external support isn’t weak, but is admired. Taking responsibility for your mental health by seeking therapy can give you the necessary tools to avoid triggers, redirect damaging patterns, and overcome regular obstacles to your health and wellness.
What is Therapy Like?
Therapy sessions vary from person to person. In general, you can expect to discuss your life, personal history, and, after some time, progress from a previous session. Therapy can be short or long-term to reflect your desired goals and our counsel. Therapy will prove most fruitful through a mutually reinforcing relationship between you and our compassionate team.
What About Medication vs. Psychotherapy?

Our philosophy of therapy will seek to address causes of distress and a pattern of behavioral responses. Working with your medical doctor and therapist will help you determine what’s best for you.

How Does Insurance Work?

To determine mental health coverage, call to discuss your options with your provider first. Here are some helpful questions to consider asking:

  • What are my mental health benefits?
  • What is my coverage amount per therapy session?
  • How many therapy sessions will my plan cover?
  • How much will my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Are Sessions Confidential?

Yes! Confidentiality is taken seriously at Montani Mental Health. We understand that successful therapy requires a great degree of trust and familiarity, particularly surrounding the disclosure of personally sensitive information. We promise to take your privacy seriously, with professionalism and care.

Therapists should provide a written copy of their confidential disclosure agreement. The information within the agreement cannot be lawfully released without your consent. State law and professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality, except in the following situations:

  • Suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders to the authorities, including Child Protection and law enforcement, based on information provided by the client or collateral sources.
  • If the therapist has reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person.
